Now that UltraViolet has shut down, users may be looking for an alternative. Movies Anywhere can become your new home for keeping your digital movies. Here’s some info to get you started.
Your Movies Anywhere Account
Signing up for a Movies Anywhere account is free. You’ll never pay a subscription fee, but you will need to pay for the movies you want to purchase and keep in your library.
After creating your account, go to the Manage Retailers section to connect to the digital retailers where you prefer to buy digital movies. When you’ve connected those accounts, your movies will go to your Moives Anywhere library. Keep in mind that it can take up to 24 hours for your movies to transfer to your library.
Adding Movies
The My Movies section is your collection of movies on Movies Anywhere. To add movies, you’ll need to connect your account with the digital retailer where you bought the movie. You can also redeem digital codes when you buy physical products.
When you connect your accounts, the eligible movies you purchase will be automatically added to the My Movies section.
Movies Anywhere currently works with these digital retailers:
- Tunes
- Amazon
- Vudu
- Xfinity (for Xfinity TV subscribers only)
- Google Play/YouTube
- Microsoft
- FandangoNOW
Which Movies Can and Cannot Be Added
Movies Anywhere works with movies from the following studios:
- Disney
- Sony Pictures Entertainment
- Twentieth Century Fox
- Universal
- Warner Brothers
Movies from non-participating studios including Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM are not eligible.
All eligible movies are listed on the Movies Anywhere website.
Buying Movies from Movies Anywhere
Movies Anywhere does not directly handle transactions for movies, but it provides a convenient way to purchase movies directly from a connected Digital Retailer. Once you have connected your Digital Retailer accounts to your Movies Anywhere account, you can purchase movies through Movies Anywhere on mobile or tablet devices, as well as the Movies Anywhere website with these steps:
- Select the desired Movie Page on Movies Anywhere, then click the BUY button
- Select the Digital Retailer that you would like to purchase the movie from.
- Follow the directions provided by your selected Digital Retailer
- After completing your purchase with the selected Digital Retailer, return to Movies Anywhere to watch your movie
Watching Your Movies
The Movies Anywhere app is currently available on the following devices:
- iOS devices
- Android devices
- Apple TV
- Roku
- Kindle Fire
- Amazon Fire TV
- Chromecast
If you’re using an iOS, Android, or Amazon Fire tablet, you can also save movies for offline viewing.
You can stream movies and videos from a signed in Movies Anywhere account on up to four devices simultaneously.
