Most Cordcutters Prefer Netflix and Only Supplement with Other Streaming Services

Data shared with us from Reelgood shows that Netflix remains the holy grail of streaming services, with users only supplementing their viewing experience with other platforms despite an array of shiny new options. The main secondary streaming services are Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney+.

Out of the Netflix users on Reelgood, the majority hasn’t taken the plunge with new SVOD services like HBO Max or Peacock, yet. However, there’s no saying that won’t change once the newcomers have some more time to mature and draw in viewers with unmissable content or deals.

On the flip side, it seems like viewers who subscribe to one of the recently launched streaming services are also likely to test out other newcomers. Almost a fifth of HBO Max users have already subscribed to Peacock Premium as well.

Despite these up and coming streaming services’ best efforts, it’s going to take a while before viewers see any of them as a primary source for streaming entertainment. Among users who subscribe to Apple TV+, 91% are also subscribed to both Netflix and Prime Video. However, only 9% so far have felt the need to expand their selection with Peacock Premium, and 31% with HBO Max, indicating that the newer platforms are merely an optional dessert for the main course being served up by the OG streamers.
