Most Cord Cutters Use Cable Internet But Fiber & Wireless Home Internet is Growing

Women Using LaptopOne of the biggest questions we get is what internet service should a new cord cutter get. There are many options for home internet and the number of internet providers is growing. So which one should you get? We decided to ask our readers what they used to answer that question. In our survey of over 3000 cord cutters, we asked what type of internet they use for streaming in their homes. The survey showed the following:

While cable internet service is still the leader by almost 50%, we’re now seeing other options like fiber and wireless internet gaining popularity among cord cutters.

Companies like Toast.net are offering fiber internet in select cities with no data caps and affordable rates that rival cable internet providers.

Startups like Starry are shaking things up even more by offering 5G internet options in select cities for those who want an internet only plan at a low monthly price.

We’re also keeping an eye on SpaceX and their recent launch of 60 satellites that will hopefully soon be bringing high speed, low cost internet to North America and, eventually, the rest of the world.

What type of internet are you using to stream content? Would you consider switching when new options become more readily available? Let us know in the comments!
