Most Cord Cutters Plan to Buy a Roku Streaming Player According to a New Survey

Roku Ultra with Packaging

The battle for your living room has been heating up. Amazon and Roku have both announced new streaming players coming this fall, so we decided to ask over 4,000 of our readers which streaming players they planned to buy.

Most of them said they were planning to buy a Roku device. Roku dominated as the most popular device overall beating Amazon’s Fire TV by more than 2 to 1, putting Amazon in 2nd place. The Apple TV came in 3rd  with less than half the votes of the Amazon Fire TV. The Nvidia Shield came in at a distant 4th place.

Clearly Roku and Amazon are dominating not only the current owners but the mindset of what cord cutters want going forward. Roku and Amazon have done a great job distancing themselves from their competition when it comes to a set top box.

This dominance by Roku and even Amazon makes having your content as a streaming service available on their platforms a must if you want to reach cord cutters. This gives Roku and Amazon an advantage over Android TV and even Apple TV.
