Most Americans Would Rather Wait for a Movie to Come to Streaming Than to Pay to Watch It in Theaters

Is there a new movie coming out that you want to see? Are you planning on going to your local movie theater or will you wait for it to come to a streaming service like Disney+, Max, or Paramount+ to name a few?

If you are waiting for it to be included with your subscription to a streaming service you are not alone, according to HarrisX’s poll for IndieWire.

According to that survey, only 34 percent of Americans would prefer to watch movies in theaters, which means two-thirds of Americans would wait to stream it.

With at-home sound and video quality being closer than ever to the theater experience, watching movies at home has become the preference. Movie theaters are so expensive when you consider both the ticket prices and the cost of food and drinks.

Americans seem fine waiting for movies to come to streaming. The question now is can anything turn the tide from at home streaming.

The other issue movie theaters are facing is a growing number of movies going directly to streaming.
