According to a new study from Hub Entertainment Research Group, only 39 percent of Americans prefer live TV as their default option to watch TV. According to the report, 61 percent prefer to watch their shows on demand when and how they want to.

This was one of the reasons my family became cord cutters. We realized most of the shows we watched were on the DVR and most of them were available on Hulu the next day. After looking at the inexpensive cost of Hulu versus the whopping $112 a month we paid for our TV provider we quickly realized it was just not worth it.

There are about 25 million cord cutters but only 5 million of them pay for a live TV streaming service like Sling TV. This lines up well with what we are seeing in the world of cord cutting.

The question now is this: Will cable TV companies catch on before they are left behind? The truth is that although the price is a big part of cord cutting for many it is also about the changing ways they watch TV.
