Cheerful couple cuddling and sitting on the couch watching tv at home in the living roomFor years it has been said that streaming was mostly something teens and 20 somethings did. Now according to a new study from Ovum, Americans 35-44 are the most likely to subscribe to a streaming service according to a presentation at NAB from Tony Gunnarsson Ovum Principal Analyst.

According to Ovum, people aged 35-44 are the most likely group to have a streaming service. The second most likely group of people to subscribe to a streaming service is people aged 45-54. Even people over the age of 70 are getting into streaming services as 20% of people 70 and older now subscribe to a streaming service.

It was also announced that in 2018 half of all cable and satellite TV subscribers also subscribe to a streaming service like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.

In this report it is reported that by 2022 only 20% of Americans will exclusively pay for a traditional pay-TV service. 80% of Americans will be streaming content exclusively, using an antenna, or having a combination of traditional pay-TV service and streaming services.
