More Leaked Images Show Off Google’s Chromecast-Like Android TV Dongle

Google Chromecast with Google TV

The latest in a long string of rumors and leaks regarding Google’s next HDMI dongle showcases more clear looks at the device and its remote control. Beyond that, though, new reports suggest we may have an official name for the streamer reportedly codenamed “Sabrina” — and possibly a new name for the Android TV operating system itself.

WinFuture published photos rumored to be the next Google streaming device and the site also floated a possible final, retail name: Google Chromecast with Google TV. If accurate, the naming would fall right in line with the company’s existing line of Chromecast devices, which is currently topped off by the now-discounted Chromecast Ultra. The “Google TV” part, however, suggests we will indeed see Android TV get a new name, as some rumors have suggested over the past few months.

The remote control shown in these new images retains the circular d-pad we’ve seen in prior leaks, but a few of the buttons seem to have changed. These latest pictures showcase hotkeys for YouTube and Netflix, replacing what were the Play/Pause and Audio Mute buttons show in earlier image leaks. That Audio Mute option appears to have been moved to another spot on the remote.

In any case, we may not have much longer to wait until this new device is finally and officially confirmed. Google is hosting a product showcase event on Sept. 30th, and that would make for the perfect opportunity to confirm the new Chromecast.
