MLB Will Stream Games For Free in Areas With Failed RSNs

Today The New York Post reported that MLB will stream MLB games for free in markets that have their regional sports network shutdown. So far we know that AT&T SportsNets and possibly Bally Sports will be unable to air MLB games this year. Now MLB has a plan to stream the games for free in areas affected by failed RSNs.

According to the report, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred will have the league take over local broadcasts of money-losing teams and stream them for free in their respective markets. This will be done through the MLB.TV app.

The plan is to negotiate with other cable companies for new contracts to replace the failed AT&T SportsNets and possibly Bally Sports.

The plan is to keep in-market games streaming on the MLB.TV app even if the MLB reaches a deal with a new cable network to replace AT&T SportsNets and any other failed RSN.

The question now is how quickly can the MLB be ready to stream games in-market with only a few weeks notice.
