MLB Extra Innings Gets a $10 Price Hike on DIRECTV

With Opening Day less than a month away, the MLB Extra Innings package on DIRECTV will cost $139.99, which is a $10 increase compared to last season. The $139.99 rate is equal to the price of out-of-market game streaming service MLB.TV, which will also experience a $10 hike after its promotional price of $129.99 expires.

Extra Innings is a Cable TV subscription package offered by participating pay TV providers that allows customers to watch out-of-market MLB games on TV. MLB.TV is a streaming package that enables subscribers to view out-of-market MLB games live and on-demand online and on connected devices.

Subscribers to MLB Extra Innings on DIRECTV get access to up to 90 out-of-market games per week, most games are in HD, the Game Mix Channel which allows fans to watch 8 games on one channel, and the package includes a free subscription to MLB.TV. Blackout restrictions apply to Extra Innings and MLB.TV, which means subscribers cannot watch locals teams that play within their local markets or regions. Find out which teams near you are subject to blackout by entering your zip code here.

DIRECTV is currently the only provider offering Extra Innings for the upcoming season. Comcast, Dish, and Verizon have carried the package in the past, but they haven’t announced when they will be selling it for 2022, or if the rate will be increased.

Opening Day for the 2022 MLB regular season is set for Thursday, April 7 with the first pitch taking place at Yankee Stadium when the Boston Red Sox visit the New York Yankees at 1:05 p.m. ET.
