Mindy Kaling Makes a 6 Year Overall Deal with Warner Brothers New Streaming Service

Mindy Kaling has signed on for a 6 year exclusive deal with Warner Brothers that will include developing, writing, and producing television content. According to the terms of the deal, that content will include original comedies, dramas, longform/event series, unscripted programming, digital content, and more for cable channels and streaming outlets.

After rising to fame as Kelly Kapoor on The Office, and becoming executive producer on the show, Kaling created her own show, The Mindy Project. After 3 seasons on Fox, the show moved to Hulu where it aired for another 3 seasons. With experience in both cable and streaming, we might be in store for some original content when WarnerMedia launches their streaming service.

Before signing the deal with Warner Brothers, Mindy Kaling was with Universal TV. With the new deal, she’s expected to make over $8 million a year.

This deal is just one of many in which traditional media companies and streaming companies are working hard to pull in big names, like J.J Abrams who we know was looking for a studio that would be willing to give him complete creative freedom, and Michael Schur who has had studios coming for him after his success with The Good Place.
