In the report, the Michigan Public Service Commission shows that there was a “significant increase” in complaints and inquiries for cable companies. Most of these complaints were related to billing issues (218, up from 121 in 2018) with an increase in complaints in cable line issues and equipment-services problems as well.
The number of customers for video and cable TV services dropped by 313,066 from 2018, for a total of 1,686,006 in 2019. 72% of providers reported a decrease in customers. This is the fourth consecutive year that the number of video customers has dropped. A press release sent out after the report was published says that the decline since 2015 is “reflecting a national trend of consumers shifting away from subscribed video services to streaming services over the internet.”
