Now Locast has confirmed to Cord Cutters News that the Philadelphia market only had a short term outage caused by an outage with their ISP. Now Locast has re-added Philadelphia to their website and readers are reporting that channels are coming back online.
“To our members and supporters in Philadelphia, I personally apologize for the service interruption that occurred this week. We are looking into the problem but believe it is related to our broadband service provider. No doubt many of you can relate to that! Some day, I hope Locast will have enough contributors to purchase a higher level of service and provide more sophisticated customer support. As a non-profit, we must for now do the best we can with the limited resources we have. Thank you for your continued support of Locast, the non-profit digital translator service that provides your local broadcast TV stations online.” Said David Goodfriend from Locast.
Locast is a live TV streaming service that launched back in January 2018 in New York City to offer access to 15 stations including ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. Locast over the last year expanded into a 7th market with the addition of Washington DC. and Baltimore. Don’t look for Locast to stop there according to the people behind the service they plan to keep expanding into other markets later this year. With Locast you can stream ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC among others for free in Denver, Washington DC., Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, and New York. Now, locast is down to 6 markets with no announced expansion plans. The Sports Fan Coalition was created for the purpose of launching Locast and is headed by David Goodfriend.
