Locast Launches a TiVo App

The non-profit Sports Fans Coalition NY, owners of Locast, (SFCNY) launched a TIVO app for Locast.org, a free
local broadcast video streaming service currently available in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Dallas, Boston, Washington, D.C., Denver, Baltimore, Sioux Falls, SD, and Rapid City, SD.

“TIVO has been an innovator in video delivery for decades and now is enhancing its OTA delivery of local broadcast channels by partnering with Locast,” said SFCNY Chairman David Goodfriend. “Just as Americans can watch their local broadcast TV stations for free through the TIVO OTA equipment, with Locast they can do that and more, watching local broadcast TV on their mobile devices within their local market, just as Congress intended.”

“Access to local broadcast TV is important,” continued Goodfriend. “As proven by the local weather and emergency information disseminated during Hurricane Dorian, Americans rely on their local broadcast TV stations and their mobile wireless devices to receive valuable safety and public information. With Locast, critical information on broadcast TV is available anytime, anywhere to the public on numerous platforms, now including TIVO.”

“We’re excited to now add a new app to the list of ways to access Locast. In addition to TIVO, consumers can access Locast on Apple iOS, AppleTV, Android, AndroidTV, Roku, Amazon Firestick, Hopper, DIRECTV, and multiple web browser platforms.”
