Your Local Library Will Soon Stream Paramount Movies After a New Deal With Hoopla

Your library card just got a lot more powerful: Hoopla just announced a deal with Paramount Pictures to add Paramount movies to their lineup.

“Through this new deal with Paramount, hoopla digital is adding a roster of iconic movies to the dynamic experience we offer to our library partners and their patrons. Content on hoopla, including this exciting lineup of films, can be enjoyed across multiple screens, from laptops to tablets and TVs—all with a library card,” said Jeff Jankowski, founder and owner of hoopla digital.

So what is Hoopla? Hoopla Digital teams up with local libraries to offer free streaming for members of more than 1,600 public library systems across North America. Public libraries are a great resource for cord cutters—not only for free DVD rentals but now also for streaming.

“We’re delighted to be working with hoopla digital to deliver a broad selection of films to library patrons across the United States,” said Dina Vangelisti, SVP TV Distribution, Paramount Pictures. “This collection of titles from Paramount’s extensive library truly offers something for everyone””

With this deal you will have access to movies like Shutter Island with Leonardo DiCaprio, The Soloist with Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx, and the hilarious comedy School of Rock, starring Jack Black. In addition, family-friendly movies such as The Nutty Professor, starring Eddie Murhpy, and The Wild Thornberrys Movie will further add to Hoopla Digital’s catalog of more than 600,000 movies, TV shows, music albums, eBooks, audiobooks and comics.

Hoopla also recently announced that over the next month the Hoopla app will be available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku set-top boxes. Soon you will be able to stream movies from your library on your favorite streaming player.

Update: Hoopla reached out to Cord Cutters News to say 50 Paramount titles are already live the rest will be added each month over the next year.
