Linksys Announces Its First Mesh WiFi 6E System

There’s been a lot of talk of WiFi 6E on day one of CES and Linksys joined in with an announcement about a new mesh WiFi system. The Linksys AXE8400 WiFi 6E Mesh System will use the 6GHz band to offer a faster, more reliable network.

Powered by the Qualcomm Networking Pro 1210 Platform, the Linksys AXE8400 promises “blazing fast performance” 2x faster than the competition. The system will cover up to 3,000 square feet per node and can support over 65 devices sharing the same bandwidth.

The AXE8400 WiFi Mesh System will be available in spring or summer. A single node will cost $449.99, a two pack will cost $849.99, and a three pack will cost $1199.99.

Along with the Linksys AXE8400, the company announced today Linksys Aware, the next generation of its motion sensing technology, compatible with third party WiFi enabled devices including smart plugs and smart speakers. Linksys Aware allows for existing smart devices such as thermostats or doorbells to act as points of communication, expanding motion-sensing coverage area to give users a better sense of where motion is detected in the home.

Linksys Aware update will be available through the Linksys App beginning spring 2021 at $2.99 per month or $24.99 per year.
