LG Introduces webOS 6.0 for Its 2021 TV Lineup

LG Electronics today announces the introduction of webOS 6.0 for its 2021 OLED, QNED Mini LED, NanoCell and UHD smart TVs.

LG Electronics has announced webOS 6.0 which will be introduced on the company’s 2021 lineup of OLED, QNED Mini LED, NanoCell and UHD smart TVs.

With webOS 6.0, users will get an updated home screen, designed to better meet view needs, including faster access to each user’s most used apps and improving content discovery with improved recommendations based on user preferences and viewing history.

The upgraded LG ThinQ AI in webOS 6.0 supports new voice commands for both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, making content discovery across streaming services and broadcast channels easier than ever.

With the Next Picks feature, LG can analyze preferences to discover more content for viewers. Next Picks users viewer history to recommend two live programs from broadcast or set-top box options as well as one VOD title or app, saving viewers time when choosing what to watch next.

“The latest version of our user-friendly open TV platform webOS 6.0 represents the most significant update since we first introduced webOS in 2014,” said Park Hyoung-sei, President of LG Home Entertainment Company. “With the new edition of webOS, LG is demonstrating its commitment of offering services, products and technologies that respond to the needs and wants of our valued customers.”

Along with an improved operating system, LG announced its new Magic Remote. LG says the remote is designed to be more user-friendly and to connect TVs and other devices more quickly. The remote includes hot keys for popular apps, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+.
