LG Electronics Expands Transparent Conversations Podcast to LG Channels on LG TVs, Amplifying Mental Health Awareness

With its carefully curated lineup of programming, LG Channels is now set to provide upgraded usability that allows users to conveniently search, discover and enjoy their favorite content.

LG Electronics unveiled a significant expansion of its traveling podcast series, Transparent Conversations, now available for streaming on LG Channels, the company’s free, ad-supported streaming television service exclusive to LG Smart TVs. This move aligns with Student-Athlete Mental Health Week (October 5-12) and World Mental Health Awareness Day on October 10, reinforcing LG’s commitment to addressing mental health challenges faced by student-athletes. The 18-episode series, hosted by sports journalist Taylor Rooks, dives into the unique pressures student-athletes navigate while balancing academics, athletics, and personal well-being.

Transparent Conversations offers an unfiltered exploration of topics often overlooked in sports discussions, such as the intersection of identity and athletics, managing Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities, and recovering from injuries and setbacks. The podcast emphasizes the critical role of mental health for all individuals, blending clinical expertise with real-world experiences. Each episode features a dynamic panel format with mental health professionals and accomplished athletes, including Jerry Stackhouse (Vanderbilt University Men’s Basketball Head Coach and former NBA All-Star), Kenny Anderson (Fisk University Men’s Basketball Head Coach and former NBA All-Star), Ryan Murphy (four-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer), Bobby Hurley (Arizona State University Head Basketball Coach), and Victoria Garrick Brown (Hidden Opponent). The series is accessible via the LG Channels Home App through the guide button on LG Smart TV remotes or the LG Channels icon on the launcher bar.

“LG believes that World Mental Health Awareness Day should be every day and has always been inclusive of all student-athletes regardless of sport or division. The integration of Transparent Conversations onto LG Channels ushers in an even deeper commitment to power today’s and tomorrow’s student athletes to reach their full potential. Together, alongside a laudable cast of partners, we are helping students build confidence and access support systems that focus on whole person care to drive improved health outcomes,“ said Jeannie Lee, Director of Corporate Marketing at LG.

LG’s integration of Transparent Conversations into its streaming platform underscores its broader mission to support student-athletes holistically. As a long-standing NCAA® Corporate Partner, LG has prioritized initiatives that empower student-athletes both on and off the field. One such effort is the Life’s Good Coaches Award, which recognizes NCAA® coaches as vital mentors who guide student-athletes toward success. Additionally, LG has partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to bolster mental health resources. This collaboration supports NAMI On Campus clubs at schools hosting NCAA® Men’s and Women’s Final Four® events and funds the creation of the NAMI Mental Health College Guide for Educators, a resource designed to help educators practice self-care and prevent burnout.

The addition of Transparent Conversations enhances LG Channels’ robust sports offerings, curated within the LG Channels Sports Hub. This hub includes LG’s exclusive NCAA® Championships Channel, which broadcasts 50 NCAA® Fall, Winter, and Spring championships, bringing the excitement of college sports directly to viewers’ living rooms. LG Originals, such as The Rivalries on the NCAA® Championships Channel, further amplifies LG’s dedication to showcasing student-athletes across all divisions. Through these initiatives, LG continues to strengthen its NCAA® partnership, fostering visibility and support for student-athletes nationwide.
