LG’s latest tweaks to its popular high-end OLED line include brighter screens, faster processors, and new screen options at both ends of the size spectrum.

For 2022, the company’s G2 and C2 lines gain LG’s α (Alpha) 9 Gen 5 processor, while the G2 series gets what it’s calling Brightness Booster that (surprise!) ups the brightness levels. LG says that’s partly thanks to better heat dissipation.
The G2 line also adds a couple new size options, including an 83-incher and a top-of-the-range 97-inch model. The two new entries join the line’s existing 55-, 65-, and 77-inch displays.
Meanwhile, the C2 series is comprised of six models, including a smaller 42-inch size that LG says is a good fit for console and PC gamers. Moving up from the 42-incher, the C2 line also offers 48-, 55-, 65-, 77-, and 83-inch screen choices.
As for that new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 5 chip, LG says it’s coming to the Z2, G2, and C2 OLED series, as well as the QNED Mini LED QNED99 and QNED Mini LED QNED95 models.
QNED Mini LED
In the LCD space, LG continues to push its QNED line of TVs — and the company’s promising impressive color accuracy and contrast, thanks to local dimming. Beyond that, LG says all models starting from the QNED90 series on up will be certified for 100 percent color consistency.
Improvements to webOS 22
Beyond new TV models, LG is also updating its core smart TV platform, webOS. The newest iteration, dubbed webOS 22 will offer personal profile support so users can personalize their list of streaming services and get tailored content suggestions.
LG’s latest version of ThinQ AI includes support for Matter, the emerging smart home standard that counts Amazon, Apple, and Google among its supporters. The company expects Matter support to arrive in the second half of 2022.
As is usually the case for CES 2022, exact pricing and release dates aren’t quite available for LG’s lineup, but we’ll certainly keep a lookout for updates.
