Disney’s new summer blockbuster Jungle Cruise is heading for theaters and Premier Access on Disney+ at the same time this July. The news came straight from the source – the source being Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Instagram account.

As The Rock puts it, “the epic adventure event of the summer that you’ve been waiting for, Disney’s Jungle Cruise is coming to you around the world,” and that means in theaters as well as home entertainment on Disney+ with Premier Access on July 30.

Inspired by the Disney theme park ride Jungle Cruise, the film stars Dwyane Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain skipper Frank Wolff and Emily Blunt as research explorer Dr. Lily Houghton as they set off on an Amazon-jungle expedition. Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.

This is the latest film to announce a same-day streaming release alongside a theatrical debut amid the changing movie premiere landscape. The film was originally set to debut in theaters on July 24, 2020, but, like most movies last year, got postponed by the pandemic.
