JJ Abrams, Stephen King, & Hulu Team Up for a New Original Show

JJ Abrams and Stephen King are teaming up for what may become the most anticipated original show of 2017, “Castle Rock.”

Fans of Stephen King will recognize “Castle Rock” as the setting in many of King’s books including The Dead Zone, Cujo, and The Body.

This weekend the surprise trailer for the show appeared on YouTube. The trailer winds a path past many famous locations found in King’s books like Salem’s Lot, the Shawshank State Prison, Pennywise (the clown from It), the name Annie Wilkes (the crazed uber-fan in Misery), and more before zooming out on a map of Maine.

This will be the second collaboration between Abrams and King at Hulu following last year’s “11.22.63” starring James Franco.

Stephen King is currently working on several adaptations of his famous books. Idris Elba will star in a film adaptation of The Dark Tower, which hits theaters this summer. A new iteration of It is coming September 8. And Spike has given the greenlight to a series based on The Mist.

No date was announced for “Castle Rock,” but it is expected sometime in 2017.
