It’s Time to Lower Expectations When It Comes to Disney’s New Cord Cutting Streaming Service

When Disney announced plans to launch Disney+, people went crazy at the idea of getting access to Disney’s huge catalog of movies and TV shows. Honestly, the service sounds great: access to some Disney content plus new original programs including new Star Wars shows? Disney fans are justifiably excited.

Yet at the same time there are rumors floating around promising more than what will likely be included in the new Disney+ service.

For example, many readers have reported to Cord Cutters News that Disney’s entire back catalog of movies will be included. That is sadly highly unlikely. We already know that Disney+ will not, for example, include older Star Wars movies because rights to air these movies are owned by Tuner right now.

What is far more likely is that Disney will offer a collection of older movies that will rotate each month like how Netflix and Hulu rotate their content.

The same goes for TV shows. Many seem excited about the promise of every old Disney Channel show being available. Again, it is very unlikely we are going to get unlimited access to every old Disney Channel show. Look for a collection of older shows to rotate alongside newer Disney+ original programs.

The new Disney+ service sounds amazing, but just keep your expectations realistic to avoid being disappointed.
