One of the most requested channels for YouTube TV, and maybe the most mysteriously missing channel, is the History Channel. So why doesn’t YouTube TV offer the History Channel, and can we ever expect it?

First, let me explain this new Ask Luke series. We often get the same questions repeated from multiple people. When we see that happen, we will post them here as part of an Ask Luke series. This gives me (Luke) and the Cord Cutters News staff an opportunity to answer common questions for everyone to see.

If you have a question feel free to email us HERE with your questions.

So will YouTube TV add the History Channel?

First, let’s start with why YouTube TV doesn’t offer the History Channel. Currently, A&E owns the History Channel, and at this time, YouTube doesn’t have a deal with A&E.

This means right now, YouTube TV does not offer A&E, Lifetime, Lifetime Movies, FYI, VICELAND, Blace, and Crime+Investigation along with the History Channel.

If YouTube TV wanted to carry the History Channel, it would need to make a deal with A&E. Unfortunately for YouTube TV fans, A&E has been unwilling in the past to sell just a few of their channels. If you want history channels, you will need to pay for all of the A&E channels.

Unfortunately paying for all of the A&E channels would require YouTube TV to raise its price or drop channels. If it decided to drop channels, YouTube TV would have to wait until its contracts end with those channels.

For now, don’t expect A&E channels to come to YouTube TV anytime soon. The good news is you can get most of them with Frndly TV for just $7 a month.

Would you pay more to get the History Channel? Or what channels would you like YouTube TV to drop? Leave us a comment and let us know.
