In May, Hulu unveiled plans for an updated user interface that would make the service more user friendly and improve on content recommendations. The update came to tvOS devices first and has been rolling out to additional devices, including Roku and LG TVs, over the summer. Now, Android TV users are seeing the update.
Here’s what’s new with the update:
Navigating Collections
Navigation has been updated to make it easier for users to find and launch content. The new layout looks similar to Disney+ and ESPN+ with collections sorted vertically and content within collections sorted horizontally. The goal is to allow users to get to content with fewer clicks.
Tile Sizes
Featured content is now shown with larger tiles, helping it to stand out. Other tiles, including the “Keep Watching” tile, are smaller but still easy to navigate to as users are scrolling through Hulu.
More Personalized Collections
Hulu is working to create better recommendations. With the update, users will find recommendations from an algorithm, combined with human editors, to ensure users are finding the most relevant titles to watch next.
Roku’s interface is being updated on a wide range of devices, so if you haven’t seen the new design yet, you may want to do a manual update.
