Hulu’s Revival of King of the Hill Gets a Release Date

Hulu has officially announced that the long-awaited revival of the iconic animated sitcom King of the Hill will premiere on August 4, 2025, bringing back the beloved Hill family and their quirky neighbors in Arlen, Texas. The news has sparked excitement among fans of the Emmy-winning series, which originally aired from 1997 to 2010, for its sharp humor, relatable characters, and heartfelt storytelling. The revival promises to blend nostalgia with fresh narratives, catering to both longtime viewers and a new generation.

The new season, produced by 20th Television Animation, will feature the return of core voice cast members, including Mike Judge as Hank Hill and Bobby Hill, Kathy Najimy as Peggy Hill, Pamela Adlon as Bobby’s friend Connie Souphanousinphone, and Stephen Root as the conspiracy-obsessed Dale Gribble. Fans can also expect Johnny Hardwick’s posthumous contributions as Boomhauer, with select recordings completed before his passing in 2023. New voice talent will join the ensemble, though Hulu has kept details under wraps to build anticipation.

Set in the familiar suburban landscape of Arlen, the revival will pick up years after the original series, with Bobby Hill now a young adult navigating modern life while staying true to his roots. Hank, still the propane and propane accessories salesman with a heart of gold, will face contemporary challenges in parenting and community life, all while maintaining his signature traditional values. Peggy, Luanne, and the gang will also return, tackling storylines that reflect today’s cultural and social dynamics, from technology overload to evolving neighborhood dynamics, all infused with the show’s signature wit.

The creative team has teased that the new season will retain the show’s grounded humor, avoiding heavy-handed political commentary while subtly addressing modern issues through the lens of its endearing characters.

The revival was first hinted at in 2023, with Hulu greenlighting the project after years of fan demand and speculation. The original series, celebrated for its nuanced portrayal of Middle America, amassed a cult following and critical acclaim, winning an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program. Hulu’s decision to revive King of the Hill follows the success of other rebooted animated classics, capitalizing on streaming platforms’ ability to cater to nostalgic audiences.

The premiere will consist of a double episode, kicking off a 13-episode season, with episodes dropping weekly on Hulu. Fans are already buzzing on social media, sharing memes of Hank’s iconic “BWAAAH!” and speculating about guest stars and plotlines. Hulu has also launched a promotional campaign featuring Arlen-inspired digital content, including virtual propane tank filters and a “What Would Hank Do?” quiz.

Mark your calendars for August 4, 2025, when King of the Hill returns to Hulu, ready to prove that propane, family, and good ol’ fashioned humor never go out of style.
