Hulu & YouTube TV Reportedly Added 900,000 Live TV Subscribers in The 4th Quarter of 2018

After DIRECTV NOW reported losing subscribers and Sling TV only added about 50,000 subscribers in the 4th quarter of 2018 many wondered how other services did. Now according to reports, Hulu with live TV and YouTube TV added over 900,000 subscribers.

According to an estimate form, MoffettNathanson Hulu with Live TV added 500,000 subscribers and YouTube TV added 400,000 customers in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Now, these are not confirmed numbers but come from a research group with a long history of studying the streaming market. Both YouTube TV and Hulu have not publicly announced their subscriber numbers.  There have been multiple reports that Hulu and YouTube TV both have about 1 million subscribers. Other reports have put Hulu with live TV has close to 1.5 million subscribers.

We do know that Sling TV is still the largest live TV streaming services when looking at subscribers. According to Sling TV, they ended 2018 with over 2.2 million subscribers.

What we do know right now is the race for the most popular live TV streaming services is still wide open. Any service at this point has a chance to be the largest live TV streaming services in 2019.
