Hulu Will Likely Dethrone Sling TV as The Largest Live TV Streaming Service By The End of 2019

Recently Hulu stopped officially talking about live TV subscribers. All we could get out of Disney was a statement that Hulu was the fastest growing live TV streaming services in the 2nd quarter of 2019. (Because of Disney’s accounting system that is the 3rd quarter of 2019 for Disney.)

Now Craig Moffett a well-respected analyst studying the world of cord cutting and live TV streaming says Hulu may now be the 2nd largest live TV streaming services with 2.4 million subscribers. According to a report that was just released Hulu added around 300,000 live TV subscribers in the 2nd quarter of 2019. This would put Hulu at about 2.4 million subscribers just behind Sling TV’s 2.472 million subscribers that Sling TV recently confirmed at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2019.

This rate of growth Hulu will likely pass Sling TV in terms of subscribers by the end of 2019. Recently Sling TV’s growth has continued but at a far slower rate as Sling added less than 100,000 in the 2nd quarter of 2019.

According to Craig Moffett, YouTube TV now has 1.5 million subscribers making it the 3rd largest live TV streaming services. This is up from the reported 1 million subscribers YouTube TV had at the end of 2018.
