Hulu Will Soon Let Subscribers Download Movies & TV Shows For Offline Viewing

Soon you will be able to take you favorite Hulu shows with you next time your traveling, even if you do not have internet.

In a interview CEO Mike Hopkins told AdWeek that giving subscribers the ability to download content for offline viewing was something the company was heavily invested in and currently working on. Like Netflix, the new feature will let users download certain programs onto their mobile devices, but will only be viewable through the service’s mobile app.

“It’s something that we’re going be doing in a few months,” Hopkins said. “We’re working hard on the technology around that and getting the rights squared away.”

We do not know what studios and networks will allow downloading of movies and TV shows. Hulu’s new downloading service will like start with a small catalog of shows and movies. Just like how Netflix started allowing downloading late last year it was only for a small percentage of their library. Yet as with all things the number of supported movies and TV shows has slowly grown on Netflix.

Currently we have no timeline for when Hulu will allow subscribers to start downloading movies and TV shows through Hulu. Yet since they are talking about the new download service it will likely happen sooner than later.
