Hulu Pulls Its App From Sling TV’s AirTV DVR Running Android TV

Today Hulu confirmed to Cord Cutters News that it is pulling the Hulu app from Sling TV’s AirTV OTA DVR. This means if you own an AirTV you will no longer be able to access Hulu through the official Hulu app. According to reports, the original white AirTV has already started to lose its Hulu app but the new AirTV Mini we tested this afternoon still has access to the Hulu app but that could change at any time.

This is not the first time something like this has happened with Hulu. Back in August AT&T TV’s new streaming player lost access to Hulu. Earlier today Hulu pulled its app from the Channel Master Stream+ DVR. Hulu never officially commented on why it was removed but it seems that for some reason Hulu has decided the AT&T TV streaming player, the Sling TV AirTV, and the Channel Master Stream+ can not have access to Hulu.

The one thing these three devices have in common is that they do to a point compete with Hulu. Sling TV and AT&T both run live TV streaming services that directly compete with Hulu’s live TV service. The Channel Master Stream+ DVR is an OTA DVR that you could make an argument directly competes with Hulu as Hulu streams locals in most areas.

Cord Cutters News has reached out to Channel Master and Sling TV for comment and will update this story as we learn more.
