Hulu, PS Vue, CBS, NBC, Showtime, and More Gain Voice Controls on The Fire TV

Recently Amazon started rolling out new voice controls for their Fire TV streaming players. This new update included the ability for 3rd party apps to use Alexa.

Now you can use Alexa to fast forward, rewind, and do so much more with 3rd party apps like Hulu, Showtime, PlayStation Vue, CBS, NBC, Bravo, CNBC, and NBC News. Now you can ask your Fire TV to play a show and it will immediately start playing the episode you asked for inside 3rd party apps. For example “Alexa open ESPN in PlayStation Vue.”

“This is an extremely exciting time in the world of digital voice assistants. Voice capabilities are exploding due, in large part, to leaders in the space like Amazon opening their doors to 3rd-party developers, creating endless voice-driven possibilities. We are particularly fired up about how these technologies will simplify TV viewing. That’s why we are very happy to announce today that, beginning this Fall, Hulu will be among the first 3rd-party entertainment services to support Amazon’s digital voice assistant, Alexa.” Said Richard Irving VP of Product for Hulu.

Here are some of the voice commands you will be able to use with Hulu:

“Alexa, watch ESPN.”

“Alexa, go to Bravo.”

“Alexa, play The Handmaid’s Tale.”

“Alexa, play Full House.”

“Alexa, pause.”

“Alexa, play This is Us.”

“Alexa, go back 13 seconds.”

“Alexa, fast forward 2 minutes.”

“Alexa, go to the beginning.”
