Hulu Outbids Netflix For “This Is Us”

Are you a fan of the hit show “This Is Us? Soon the FOX-produced NBC drama’s back catalog of shows will be a Hulu exclusive.

According to reports Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu got in a bidding war for U.S. streaming rights to the show and Hulu won with a reported $3.5 million per episode.

Hulu has recently been on a buying binge for shows especially shows that used to be on Netflix. FOX recently pulled most of its shows from Netflix and has moved them over to Hulu. NBC and ABC have also announced deals to move back catalog shows over to Hulu. Shows such as “Full House,” “MASH,” “Glee,” “Bones,” and “American Dad,” have all moved to Hulu or have announced deals to move over to Hulu soon.

Netflix is reportedly ready to spend $7 billion next year on original shows and films in an effort to offset studios who seem less willing to put their shows and movies on Netflix. At the same time, Netflix announced a price hike that will have most Netflix subscribers seeing a $1 a month increase.

How will this change affect the streaming layout? For now we will have to wait and see what happens, but clearly, Hulu and others are willing to spend a lot of money in an effort to get new market share.
