Hulu Now Has Over 800,000 Live TV Subscribers

Today CEO Randy Freer told CNBC that Hulu’s new live TV streaming service has topped 800,000 subscribers. This would put Hulu ahead of PlayStation Vue, fuboTV, and depend on what reports you look at YouTube TV.

This comes as Hulu recently reported that they have hit 20 million subscribers to their on-demand and live TV streaming services. That works out to be about 1 million subscribers added since the start of 2018.

Hulu is the complete TV experience for consumers, offering both live and on-demand programming and more consumer choice than ever before,” said Freer. “We are the only place that delivers award-winning content, ad loads less than half that of traditional television, with ads that are always viewable and always in a brand-safe environment — and we are leading the TV and advertising industries into the future.”

It seems that Hulu’s hit show The Handmaid’s Tale is helping push Hulu’s subscriber numbers to an all-time high. In response to that success recently Hulu announced that they have renewed the Emmy winning The Handmaid’s Tale for a 3rd season. According to Hulu season, 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale has seen the audience double since the launch of season one in 2017. The Handmaid’s Tale is the first series ever on a streaming video on-demand service to take both the Golden Globe and Emmy Award for Best Drama Series.
