This will include the new Chris Rock “Saw” spinoff movie that has yet to be named. Also, Hulu will have the rights to “I Still Believe,” the movie about Christian music star Jeremy Camp. This does not include rights to Lionsgate’s Sumit movies including the new “John Wick: Chapter 3” movie as rights have already been sold to HBO
According to reports the bid for this deal was submitted before Disney completed its purchase of Fox’s entertainment assets which included FX and gave it control of Hulu.
Hulu has also recently bought the US rights to the Harvey Weinstein documentary “Untouchable” in a seven-figure deal. The film, directed by Ursula Macfarlane, premiered at Sundance Film Festival. Focusing on the sexual assault allegations made against the disgraced Holly producer, the film recounts the rise and fall of Weinstein’s career while highlighting stories from the accusers.
“We are thrilled that Untouchable has been acquired by Hulu, which is the perfect home in the U.S. for a film which should serve both as a cautionary tale for the younger generation and an enduring example of how seemingly unchecked power can be held to account when courageous people choose to speak out,” Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn, co-founders of Lightbox and producers of Untouchable, said Sunday in a statement.
