According to Hulu’s CEO they are considering offering a cheaper live TV streaming service that would focus on news and live sports. It would still include their on-demand library of programs but giving you access to many programs like Family Guy. According to Variety they believe its possible the new service could include the following channels: ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC TV stations, along with CNN, CNBC, ESPN/ESPN2, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, Fox Sports, HLN, and Turner’s TBS and TNT It is also possible that CBS Sports Network, NBCSN, Golf Channel and Big Ten Network, and regional sports networks will be included.
For now, this is still an idea Hulu is working on. Pricing, exact channels, and more are still unknown. There are also many hurdles to overcome including the fact that most companies that own sports networks like ESPN often also require you to carry their other channels before you can have their sports networks. Yet Disney is about to buy most of Hulu and they may give them access to ESPN without the need to carry the Disney Channel for example.
