Recently Hulu announced Hulu Documentary Films, a collection of streaming documentaries exclusive to Hulu, starting with The Beatles: Eight Days a Week, a Ron Howard Documentary. Some of these documentaries, such as The Beatles: Eight Days a Week, will first air in theaters, but they will shortly thereafter appear on Hulu.
No timeline or other titles have been announced, but we expect over the next year to be hearing a lot about Hulu Documentaries.
This marks one more great reason to try Hulu, because they have been working hard to not only be known for TV shows but also movies. Last year they struck a deal with Epix, which moved their catalog of big-name movies from Netflix to Hulu.
Hulu wants to rapidly grow their catalog as a way to catch up to Amazon and Netflix, which both have significantly larger subscriber bases. Yet Hulu is seeing strong growth and is putting a lot of effort into attracting new subscribers with both original content and deals with major streaming companies.
