Hulu is Limiting Ads & Rolling Out a New User Interface This Summer

Today at NewFronts in New York City Hulu announced that they are limiting ads and rolling out a new user interface.

With this announcement, Hulu announced that they are limiting the number of times you see the same ad to twice per hour. This address one of the main complaints of streaming services like Hulu that you always see the same ad over and over again. Hulu also announced that all ad breaks are now capped at 90 seconds. Hulu went on to say they plan to make half of their ad revenue from non-disruptive ads.

Hulu also announced that Hulu’s new user interface will be rolling out this summer. First announced at CES back in January it is now being announced that the new user interface will roll out in the summer of 2019.

One other change coming is how content is displayed. As you scroll around the home page it only shows one TV show or movie at a time. Hulu, with this newly updated app, will add the ability to see a grid of shows on the screen at once. Instead of seeing one show, you will see a handful of shows as you scroll through the guide.

No date has been set for when these other features will hit, but look for them this spring.
