Hulu is Getting an Updated Look and Improved User Experience

Hulu is making changes to ensure that its platform is as user friendly as possible, by making it easier for users to find the content they want and discover their new favorite shows and movies. To make those changes, Hulu’s interface is getting an update, rolling out to tvOS devices today, and coming to more devices in the coming months.

Here are the changes being rolled out to Hulu subscribers.

Navigating Collections

Viewers can now navigate through collections vertically and explore within a collection by moving horizontally. The new layout will look similar to Disney+ and ESPN+ and will make it easier for users who are subscribed to all three services to switch between the three. Hulu says testing this feature showed that it’s more intuitive and that viewers found it easier to use.

Tile Sizes

Now, some content will be highlighted with larger tile sizes. When there’s new content that Hulu wants to recommend for you, you’ll see the image for that show or movie in a larger size. Other tiles, like the “Keep Watching” tile will be smaller, allowing for easier navigation to the content you want to see.

More Personalized Collections

Hulu is working to create better recommendations, and this update will include a few changes to make that happen. A team of content experts and the recommendation system will now be able to fine-tune curated collections to make them more personalized. Hulu’s algorithm, combined with human editors, will give you the shows and movies you want to see.
