The Roku players Hulu is ending support on are mostly Roku’s sold in before 2014. So all current and most recent Roku players will still be supported.
Here is the email sent out by Hulu:
In 2017 we turned Hulu into a personalized TV experience like no other. Among other things, our app went through a complete design overhaul and we launched Hulu with Live TV.
In order to do that, we had to let some devices go.
So we are reaching out to let you know that the Hulu app will no longer be available on your Roku starting on June 27th, 2018.
We really want you to enjoy Hulu at its best on any of our supported devices. Many of them have models that start under $29.99. Plus, there’s always the option to watch on Hulu and on iOS and Android.

Here are the Roku models that will be supported after June 27th 2018.
- Roku Ultra
- Roku Premiere and Premiere+
- Roku Express and Express+
- Roku 3 and 4
- Roku 2 (model 4210)
- Roku Streaming Stick (model 3500 or later)
- Roku TV
No word on exactly why this is happening but it looks like Hulu wants to end legacy support of the older Roku models. These devices are often over five years old and no longer run the newest Roku OS. That means an entirely separate app needs to be maintained. Hulu likely looked at the number of people still using the older Roku’s and said it was not financially worth the cost. The good news is that even the $29.88 Roku Express will be far faster and offer more supported Channels than a Roku from 2014.
