Hulu and HBO Are in Talks for a Streaming Deal

It seems that you may soon have one more option to watch HBO content. The New York Post, which has recently been a reliable source for these deals, has reported that Hulu and HBO are in “late-state talks.”

Details are still thin, but it sounds as though Hulu at least wants to have HBO added to its live TV streaming deal. Though there is a possibility that Hulu may get back catalog access to HBO shows. Currently Amazon has rights to older HBO shows, but that deal is ending in early 2018.

HBO NOW launched about two years ago and has roughly 2.4 million subscribers. You can also subscribe to HBO on Amazon, Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, and others. You can even get it for just $5 a month if you are a DIRECTV NOW subscriber and free if you also have an AT&T Wireless Unlimited plan.

HBO is now facing serious competition from services such as Netflix, which is also creating its own high quality shows. Even other cable networks such as AMC has raised the level of its production with “The Walking Dead” and other shows such as “Breaking Bad.”

It seems that HBO may be looking for ways to expand its reach to address the growing level of competition it is facing.
