Hulu Has Ended Support for Some LG Smart TVs

Last month, we reported that Hulu would be ending support for many LG devices. Today, Reddit users began sharing messages on their devices, like one from Reddit user who had this message (in a now deleted photo) on his two year old device:

[Hulu Will No Longer Be Streaming on App Version 1.1 on LG TVs from August 20th, 2019.]
Hulu will no longer be streaming on app version 1.1 on LG TVs from August 20th, 2019.

App: Hulu (v1.1)
Support ceased from August 20th, 2019.
Hulu v.1.1 shall be terminated on LG’s devices due to Hulu’s request.
The app had been temporarily back on service for the past 2 weeks but shall be terminated from August 20th 2019.

Other Reddit users have confirmed the message and have also commented that their devices are no longer supported.

On Hulu’s support page, they have this response for those whose devices are no longer supported:

While we’d love for Hulu to be accessible to everyone, we occasionally have to discontinue our service on supported devices that are no longer capable of meeting our app’s minimum technical requirements.

As our July post said, this all comes as Hulu is getting ready to roll out a new app sometime this summer. Hulu is likely focusing on devices with the largest number of users. First announced at CES in January, Hulu’s new user interface will also be rolling out this summer.
