Hulu Gives New Pricing Details About Its Hulu Live TV Service

For about a year we have known that Hulu is working on a live TV streaming service to take on Sling TV. We are finally learning more details.

We already learned this week that CBS and Hulu have struck a deal to bring CBS networks and shows to Hulu’s new live TV streaming service. (No word on any expansion of the current CBS-Hulu deal.)

Now we are learning more about the pricing details.

We’re going to try to keep our pricing pretty simple,” CEO Hopkins said in a Q&A session with the media. “Under $40, that’s going to be the price.”

Now hopefully that means some of the plan of having tiered pricing for add-ons such as a DVR will be ditched in favor of a more streamlined service; however, we do know that the current Hulu service and Hulu live will be separate services that will need to be subscribed to individually. This could still change but at this time we have not seen anything to suggest Hulu plans to bundle them.

Hopkins continued, “To build a successful live TV service, you have to have viewers’ favorite sports and shows — and CBS’ programming is absolutely vital to that mix. With 21st Century Fox, Disney, Turner and now CBS on board, our new live service will offer one of the most valuable sports, news and entertainment lineups anywhere — from ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports and TNT to ABC, CBS, FOX and The Disney Channel.”

Hopefully we will soon get a full detailed look at the new Hulu live TV streaming service.
