Hulu Cuts The Price of Their On-Demand Service for New Customers

Back in September Hulu cut the cost of their entry-level limited commercial plan to $5.99 a month down from $7.99 a month. This deal is for a limited time and is only for new customers according to Hulu’s website. After the first year, the rate will return to $7.99 a month.

This all comes a few days after Netflix announced that they are raising their price on their most popular plans to $10.99 a month a $1 increase on both new and current subscribers.

This also comes as many networks are pulling shows from Netflix and moving them to Hulu. Fox, for example, is pulling almost every show they currently have on Netflix over the next few weeks.

Now, this price drop only effects the limited commercial on-demand plan. The live TV and commercial-free plans pricing are unchanged as of this time. This is not the first time Hulu has run a promotion like this. last year they offered a discount on their limited commercial plan very similar to this one.

If you have been thinking of testing out Hulu this may be the perfect time to do it. We are unsure how long this deal will be good for and if it will ever come back.

Update: An earilier version of this story stated that the change just happened. Hulu sent us a clarification that this price changed happened a few weeks ago.
