Hulu Brings Back Picture-in-Picture for iPhone

Hulu’s most recent update has brought back the picture-in-picture feature for iPhone users with iOS 14. The feature was previously available on iPhone but support was taken away in a later update so the service could “work on a few updates to provide the best experience for our viewers.”

Now that the feature is coming back to iOS devices, Hulu subscribers can start watching a show and tap on the PiP button which will launch a popup so the viewer can watch their video while using other apps.

MacRumors was first to spot the change with Hulu’s update, alongside the regular improvements that come with each update.

While some of the big names in streaming, including Netflix and Disney+, also have a picture-in-picture feature, YouTube has not yet offered it for all users. As MacRumors notes, users with iOS 14.5 beta will find picture-in-picture support for YouTube on the web but there’s no guarantee that the app will keep the feature or make it available for all users across all devices.
