Behnken and Hurley have been in quarantine since May 13. While it’s normal for individuals to be in quarantine before a launch, NASA and SpaceX were especially careful with preparations for this launch. Staff was kept to a minimum during training and anyone interacting with the crew was given a temperature check, along with other precautions.
NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine has urged spectators to stay home, rather than coming to Kennedy Space Center to watch the launch in person. Luckily, we can all watch live.
What We’ll See
NASA will be broadcasting 24 hours of nonstop coverage, to give viewers live coverage of the preparation and launch. A webcast will begin four hours before liftoff and will continue until SpaceX’s Crew Dragon reaches the International Space Station.
When Will the Launch Take Place
He launch is scheduled for 4:33 pm ET. If the launch can’t take place at that time due to weather or other conditions, it will be delayed for a later date. The backup date is currently scheduled for May 30.
How to Watch
The launch will be broadcast live by the official NASA YouTube page and on the SpaceX website, where you can find more information about the launch, including the timeline of the prep, launch, and landing.
