How to Watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Thanksgiving is here, which means it’s time for annual traditions like food, family, football, and parades. This year is also the time for another much loved tradition, the 94th rendition of the most popular parade in the country, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

While the parade won’t have any in-person spectators this year, we have you covered on how to watch the 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from the comfort of your home.

What’s Different This Year?

The 2020 parade will be different than parades past because there will not be any spectators in attendance for the first time in its long-rich history. The parade usually attracts an in-person crowd of around 3.5 million people in the streets of New York City, but this year, for everyone’s safety, it will be a television-only event.

In an effort to follow safety guidelines, this year’s parade will focus on the last section of the normal route, rather than all 2.5 miles. To help ensure the safety of participants, character balloons will not be brought in with the typical 80-100 handlers. Instead, look for “an innovative, specially rigged anchor vehicle framework of five specialty vehicles tested and approved by the NYC Department of Transportation and the NYPD.”

The parade will still include the traditional balloons, floats, and performances and will take place in front of Macy’s flagship store on 34th street in New York City.

When to Watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade will air live from New York City, nationwide on NBC and Telemundo on Thursday, November. 26 from 9 AM to 12 PM, in all time zones.
