The Run for the Roses has made its glorious return to the first Saturday of May after the 2020 race took place in September. The 2021 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve will crown the fastest three-year-old Thoroughbred to run the 1 1⁄4 miles dirt track.The winner will also be going home with the purse of $3 million. When to watch the 2021 Kentucky Derby
Since 1875, Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky has been the home of the Kentucky Derby and the tradition will continue with coverage of the 2021 race from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN and from 2:30 – 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC on Saturday, May 1. The actual race is expected to start around 6:57 p.m. ET with the jockey’s mounting their horses around 6:30 p.m. ET.
