After two thrilling semifinal games, the stage is set for the finals of the 2022 Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). South Dakota State will welcome the Seton Hall Pirates to Brookings, South Dakota in the championship game.
As the home team, South Dakota State is the favorite in today’s game. The Jack Rabbits have appeared in five WNIT tournaments and have an 11-4 record. Their first WNIT appearance was in 2007, and the deepest run they’ve had in the tournament came in 2014 when they lost to UTEP in the semifinals. They’re coming off a heart-racing 62-59 win against UCLA in the semifinal round in front of a home crowd of 5,227 at Frost Arena.
Seton Hall is looking to make history, as the program has never been further than the 3rd Round of the WNIT. They’re coming off an exciting 74-73 win against Middle Tennessee State in the WNIT Semifinal Round. The Pirates will be looking to win their first postseason championship of any kind in program history with an upset against South Dakota State.
