How to Watch the 2022 Men’s NIT First Round on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV & More on March 16

basketball fans watching tv

With the First Four of March Madness tipping off, college basketball fans across the world are sure to have their brackets busted but that isn’t March’s only tournament. The First Round of the Men’s National Invitation Tournament (NIT) tips off with 32 teams competing in 16 single-elimination games.

Established in 1938, originally the NIT was the most prestigious postseason tournament in all of college basketball, as it preceded the NCAA Division 1 Tournament by a year. In modern times, the tournament is looked at as a secondary tournament and has been dubbed the “Not Invited Tournament” by some due to the teams not qualifying for the 68-team Big Dance.
