After a season like no other, the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season reaches its long-awaited conclusion tonight. The 151st season of college football has been a season like no other and will cap off with a battle between the SEC and Big Ten champions.
The SEC Champions No.1 Alabama Crimson Tide (12-0), led by Heisman winner WR DeVonta Smith, blew past No. 4 Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff Semifinal Round. Smith is the first WR to win the Heisman since 1991. His Alabama team is deserving of their top seeding because they’ve proved to be the best team all season by winning most of their games in blowouts.
The Big Ten Champions No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0) have had a different path to the National Championship Game. Critics said the Buckeyes didn’t deserve to be among the elite of college football due to the Big Ten playing a short season. With a lot to prove, the Buckeyes defeated No. 3 Clemson Tigers in convincing fashion in the semifinal round to solidify their place in college football’s upper echelon.
