How to Stream Live OTA TV For Free on Roku, Fire TV, & Apple TV

One of the most common questions we see from cord cutters is how to watch live OTA channels like Comet, ABC, & More without cable. For many, using an antenna is a good solution that provides local channels with excellent image quality. For those who aren’t able to use an antenna, there are many free streaming services that will give you OTA channels. We’re looking at a few of them, below.

Stirr

Stirr offers live local news and sports, movies, TV series, viral videos, and more. To start, visit the Stirr homepage and choose city from across the US to determine the local content you’ll have access to. If you don’t see a city close to you or you can’t choose between those available, Stirr recommends choosing Washington DC for news from the nation’s capital.

The Roku Channel

The Roku Channel has hundreds of free movies, show, and more. Choose from live OTA channels including ABC News, Weather Nation, Stadium Sports, and more. In addition to the free live and on-demand content available on The Roku Channel, you can also add on premium subscriptions. HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax, Epix, and Acorn TV are all available for a monthly fee.

Pluto TV

Pluto has over 100 channels of news, sports, entertainment, and more, all for free. The live content available on Pluto is shown on an easy to navigate grid guide. The guide makes it easy to browse based on the content you’re looking for, by dividing channels into categories. Scroll to the News section for live streams of Cheddar and CNN, go to the Entertainment section for MTV and British TV, and check out the sports section for a live feed of Fox Sports, Stadium, and Eleven Sports.

XUMO TV

XUMO has 160 channels of live and on-demand content for free. With news, sports, entertainment, and more, you’ll find live streams with everything you need. Browse through the live TV guide to watch what’s currently airing or scroll through the library of on-demand content to explore by genre or by channel.

Locast

Locast is a free streaming service that offers live local channels in major markets across the US. Recently, Locast was sued by major networks saying that the service doesn’t have rights to the content being aired. For now, viewers in Locast’s select markets still have access to the live stream of local broadcasts.
